Sarah Zwickle

Writer, Mother, Baker, and Composter

Sarah is the mother of two daughters who were born in Ohio. She was born in Oregon, raised on her family’s farm in Eastern Washington, then played basketball and majored in English with a minor in Japanese at the University of San Francisco (Go Dons!).

Her post college life was wander-full, from a year volunteering as a youth minister in Adderbury, England to volunteering at a youth homeless shelter in Seattle, to a biodynamic farm on Lopez Island where she met her husband (who is from Nebraska).

The two true companions moved to Ohio where Sarah farmed for Dominican Sisters, they both graduated from Ohio State University’s college of food, ag, and environmental sciences, had two daughters, and moved to Michigan where her husband teaches at Michigan State University.

Sarah makes sourdough bread and pizza along with many, many compost piles, likes to run into neighbors on a regular basis, only knits when the weather is cold, and has fallen in love with Michigan’s outdoor adventures–cross country skiing and paddle boarding. Maybe she will make her holiday gifts early this year, but probably not.
